Canon EOS R6

Performance review of the Canon EOS R6 camera through real world samples.

Tokyo Midtown

My second attempt at making a 4K HDR video. This time I did not mess up the color space when recording and I read the white paper on HDR and Wide Color Gamut in Final Cut Pro [link] from Apple. This should improve the end results. At least on my HDR display it does!

Hope you’ll also enjoy the little intro I made using GarageBand.

Shibuya Crossing

I wanted to try shooting HDR videos for sometime but 4K was just too heavy to handle for my old iMac. Since it recently died (after 8 years of heavy daily use – rest in peace my friend), its replacement (M1 processor and HDR display) gave me an opportunity to give it a shot. So I headed towards Shibuya crossing on a lovely spring afternoon with my Canon R6 set to 4K 60fps in Canon Log.

Note to self: youtube takes a long time to process HDR videos and even though it flags the video as ready in SD, HD and 4K, the addition of HDR takes several hours on top (around 12 in my case). I first thought there was something wrong in my encoding and i spent a whole day watching tutorials and encoding different versions. Don’t make the same mistake as I did: be patient.
