Iceland Pictures : with raw, dramatic landscapes born from volcanic eruptions and carved out by glaciers, Iceland is an amazing place to visit. Choose in the gallery or in the map below a place to see the photos and pictures I took in Iceland. You can use these photos as a guide to Iceland and see some pictures of : Geysir, Gulffoss, Kerio, Pingvellir and Reykjavik. All photos taken with a Canon EOS 300D (for more information on the material I have been using, follow the link «Lenses» at the bottom of the page). Geysir Photos Geysir : hot spring area in the valley Haukadalur, named after the famous hot spring Geysir. Although the eruptions of Geysir are unpredictable, the other geyser Strokkur (the butter churn) erupts every 7 minutes in average. Click the picture to see my guide in photos of Geysir.
Gullfoss Photos Gullfoss : Iceland's most famous waterfall on the river Hvita. Gullfoss means Golden Waterfall in icelandic. The impressive white cascade drops 32 metres into a narrow gorge which is 70 meters deep and 2.5 kilometres long. Click the picture to see my guide in photos of Gullfoss.
Kerio Photos Kerio : 55 m deep volcanic crater formed in an explosion 3000 years ago. It is now extinct and filled by a deep lake. Click the picture to see my guide in photos of Kerio.
Pingvellir Photos Pingvellir : large lava field, situated right on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, where the European and North American plates are moving apart. In 930 the Icelandic Parliament (Alpingi) was founded there, on the banks of the lake Pingvallavatn. Click the picture to see my guide in photos of Pingvellir.
Reykjavik Photos Reykjavik : world’s most northerly capital. Founded in 874 by a norwegian Viking called Ing?lfur Arnarson who named the place Reykjavik (Smokey Bay) after the steam rising from the hot springs. Click the picture to see my guide in photos of Reykjavik.
