Bayeux Pictures : this beautiful city (also my hometown) has preserved its old historic centre with mediaeval structure. Luckily its outstanding architectural heritage emerged unscathed from the Allied bombing raids of 1944 over Normandy. Solemnly consecrated on 14 July 1077, in the presence of William, Duke of Normandy and king of England, the cathedral later came in for all kinds of extensions and embellishments from the 13th to the 15th century. Also the Bayeux Tapestry, a unique masterpiece in the world, is actually an embroidery, done in wool on linen canvas during the 11th century. 70m long and 50cm high, it recounts how and why William the Conqueror achieved the conquest of England on 14 October 1066. Below is the list of the photos and pictures I took in and around Bayeux: the cathedral, the city center with its charming streets and buildings, the landing beaches, some german blockhouses... You can use these photos as a guide to Bayeux. For these photos and pictures, the digital cameras I used were a Minolta Dimage F100 and Fuji Finepix MX-1700Z (for more information on the material I have been using, follow the link «Lenses» below). At the bottom of the page you can also find a world map showing where Bayeux is. Finally at the top of the page you can find a link to the conditions for using the photos and pictures for free on benoa.net and a link to my photo blog. Bon Voyage!
