The whole city bursts into light and noise as the clock strikes midnight to welcome the new year in Beijing

Happy Chinese New Year from Beijing. The 12-year-old ban on firecrackers was lifted and the whole city has been resounding with explosions for a bit more than 4 hours now. Streets are littered with red papers. It's a lot of fun and I'm sure the bad spirits are now away :D
