The Forbidden City Pictures : seat of supreme power for over five centuries, the Forbidden City, with its landscaped gardens and many buildings (whose nearly 10 000 rooms contain furniture and works of art), constitutes a priceless testimony to Chinese civilization during the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties. It is the biggest and best preserved cluster of ancient building in China. The forbidden city was built in Beijing at the beginning of the 15th century, on the ruins of Kubilaï Khan's palace (grandson of Gengis Khan). Its official chinese name is Gugong, meaning Palace Museum.
It is inscribed on the UNESCO's World Heritage list since 1987. Below is the list of the photos and pictures I took in the Forbidden City in Beijing. You can use these photos as a guide to the Forbidden City and see some pictures of : the Imperial Garden, the Gate of Supreme Harmony, the Hall of Supreme Harmony, the Tiananmen Gate... All photos taken with a Canon EOS 300D with a EF 17-40mm lens (for more information on the material I have been using, follow the link «Lenses» below). At the bottom of the page you can also find a world map showing where the Forbidden City is. Finally at the top of the page you can find a link to the conditions for using the photos and pictures for free on benoa.net and a link to my photo blog. Bon Voyage!
